Less Annoying CRM
Replaceable in one session with an AI coding agent.
A deliberately simple CRM: contacts, a pipeline, a calendar and notes, with one price and no configuration.
Build me the simple CRM that replaces Less Annoying CRM. The product is a discipline, not a feature set. **Everything you add makes it worse.** Build the smallest thing that works and defend it. STACK - Node 20+ with Fastify, server-rendered HTML with a little vanilla JS - SQLite through better-sqlite3, WAL mode, FTS5 across everything - Caddy in front THE WHOLE SCHEMA - contacts: id, name, company, email, phone, address, notes, created_at - pipelines: id, name, stages_json - deals: id, contact_id, pipeline_id, stage, value_cents, currency, note, created_at, closed_at, outcome - events: id, contact_id, kind, body, at — a note, a call, a meeting; **one table, not three** - tasks: id, contact_id, title, due_on, done_at - files: id, contact_id, path, name, bytes - That is it. Six tables. Adding a seventh should require an argument THE FOUR SCREENS - A contact, with everything about them on one page and nothing on a second tab - A pipeline as columns of deals, draggable - A calendar of tasks and meetings - Search, which finds anything across everything THE PRINCIPLES THAT MAKE IT WORK - **No required fields except a name.** Every required field is a moment somebody decides not to record something - No custom field builder. If a field is needed, add the column — a builder is how simple products become complicated ones - No automation, no workflows, no scoring. This is a memory aid, not a machine - Everything editable in place, saved on blur. No edit mode, no save button - One click from any screen to add a note about anybody SEARCH, WHICH REPLACES MOST FEATURES - FTS5 across contacts, notes, deals and tasks in one query, ranked, with prefix matching - **Good search removes the need for folders, tags, filters and views**, which is most of what a large CRM is THE ONE PIECE OF NAGGING - Every contact you have interacted with has a next task, or it appears on a list of contacts with nothing planned. That single list is the whole discipline of following up WHAT TO REFUSE - Email sync, integrations, reporting dashboards, mobile applications, custom fields, permissions. **Each has a good argument and each ruins it.** If they are needed, this is not the right product BACKUP AND EXIT - A one-button export of everything as CSV and files, working from the first day - Nightly backup off the machine. The whole value here is remembering things, and a lost database forgets everything WHAT MATTERS MOST Six tables, no required fields, and one list of contacts with no next step. Everything else you might add makes it a different product.

Why this verdict

84/100
Verdict yes at 84: this is the smallest genuinely useful CRM, and the prompt is mostly a list of things to refuse. The no-required-fields rule is the one that keeps it used.
