ALMOST

A weekend of work, and real gaps remain.

A marketplace and storefront for digital products and memberships, with access management for chat servers and software licences included.

Promptfree, for everyone, and the only version there is
Build the storefront. The marketplace is what you leave.

SAY IT PLAINLY
- The software is a checkout and an access grant. The traffic is the product
- If your buyers come from your own audience, leaving costs little. If they come from the marketplace, it costs a lot

STACK
- Astro with a Node adapter, Stripe, SQLite

CHECKOUT
- Product ids only from the browser; the price is looked up server-side
- Order created by the webhook, idempotent by event id

ACCESS GRANTS
- On payment, call the chat platform API to issue a single-use invite tied to the order
- On cancellation, remove the member. Do this on the webhook, not on a nightly job, or people keep access they stopped paying for

LICENCES
- A key per order, stored hashed, with a rate-limited validation endpoint

Include the checkout, the grant and revoke handlers and the licence endpoint.

What you lose

  • A marketplace where buyers already look, which is discovery you would otherwise have to create
  • Access management that adds and removes people from chat servers automatically
  • Payments and disputes handled

If you would rather not build

  • Stripe Checkout plus your own access grants
  • Lemon Squeezy, for tax handled
  • Gumroad, for the simplest possible store

60/100
